 Baker High School Graduation Tradition

Every year, students are allowed to show off their cords, medals, National Honor Society and other awards they have received throughout their senior year during Honors Day.  However, on graduation, per tradition, only National Honor Society cords are allowed as every student is eligible to membership into the National Honor Society. 


 As per MCPSS Central Office, Senior pranking IS NOT ALLOWED ON ANY CAMPUS!!  Students who do so WILL NOT participate in commencement!

A senior fee of $20 is paid directly to Baker High School.  The fee covers graduation expenses including class day in May, the senior class signature t-shirt, and a few other senior events.  See Mr. Nelson in room 230 to pay this fee.

A senior fee of $80 is paid directly to Balfour.  This covers the purchase of a cap & gown.

Balfour will be at the entrance to the cafeteria near the elevator during the lunchwaves to collect the $80 senior fee on the following dates:


September 9:  Balfour will give a presentation to seniors during second Block

September 11:  5pm-7pm Parent night in the Baker cafeteria.

September 12:  during the lunch waves

September 13:  during the lunch waves


October 29:during the lunch waves

October 30:during the lunch waves

Graduation for Baker High School Class of 2020 will be:

Wednesday, May 13  9:30am

The location will be at USA Mitchell Center

Tickets are NOT required for admittance to Graduation

Midyear Graduates will have to turn in their clearance forms to Mr. Nelson in room 230 by Thursday December 19th in order to be cleared for graduation.

Seniors graduating in May must turn in their clearance forms in to their homeroom teachers by Thursday, December 19th.


Graduation Week Schedule

April 30:    Last full day of instruction


May 1:      Honor's Day Practice (mandatory): 9am-12pm (in Baker Gym)

               Cap & gown distribution: 12pm


May 4:      3rd and 4th block final exams (full day of school)


May 5:      1st and 2nd block final exams (full day of school)


May 6:      Honor's Day (mandatory): 4pm (seniors report by 3:00pm)  USA Mitchell Center

                               Attire:  Boys - dark dress pants (black, navy blue)

                                                   dark dress shoes (no athletic shoes)

                                                   white shirt and tie

                                           Girls - white dress

                                                   white dress shoes (no flip flops)


May 11:    Senior Breakfast (optional): 8:30am  USA Student Center Ballroom

                                Attire:  Sunday dress (no jeans, shorts, or sneakers)

                                           If you are not dressed accordingly, you will be

                                           turned away at the door.  No refunds.


May 12:     Class Day (Bowling)(attendance optional): 9:00-11:00am   Camelia Bowling Lanes

                 Graduation Practice (mandatory): 1-4pm  Baker Gymnasium


May 13:   Graduation:  9:30am  USA Mitchell Center

                      Graduation Practice at USA Mitchell Center  8:00am

                              Attire:  Boys - dark dress pants (black, navy blue)

                                                   dark dress shoes (no athletic shoes)

                                                   white shirt and tie

                                         Girls - white dress

Elementary School Celebrations

Some of the elementary feeder schools will be hosting a celebration for seniors who have attended their schools.  The schedule is listed below.  For further information, please contact the elementary school.

Senior Cookout

April 22  4-6pm

Fun, Food, and Friendship

Ticket/t-shirt are $15

t-shirt is your ticket into the cookout

tickets can be purchased in room 230 (Mr. Nelson)

last day to purchase tickets is Wednesday, April 8th 

no extra shirts will be ordered

2020 Senior Breakfast

Location:   University of South Alabama Student Center Ballroom

                  Across from the Mitchell Center


Price:         $18 per person – Payable in Mr. Nelson's Room (230).  

                  Parents coming to Baker to pay for tickets must come after school.

                   Ticket sales will end April 30th or once 300 tickets have   

                   been sold. Tickets are sold on a first come basis. 

                   Hornet Block and After School only.  Parents coming to Baker

                   to pay for tickets must come during Hornet Block (10:25-11:10)

                or after school.

1.  Cannot contain inappropriate material such as drugs, alcohol, inappropriate clothing, etc.

2.  You can only submit 4 photos, as to allow everyone an opportunity to be in the slide show. Pictures are not guaranteed to be in the slideshow.
