Summer 2024 Driver's Education Course

Student Requirements

• Students must have an Alabama Permit to take the summer class.
• The summer Driver Education Course is intended for students who have a lot of experience behind the wheel. Students who sign up should be ready to take the Alabama Road Test. This course is not intended for beginner drivers.
• Students must be in high school, grades 9-11 during the 2023-24 school year. We will not accept graduates.
• Students may be from Public, Private, Parochial, or Home Schools.
• Students must wear shoes and may wear appropriate, casual attire on driving days.
  

Opportunities For Certificates

• Students will be given the Alabama Road Test. Students who pass the test will receive their Driver License Certification. Students who do not pass will need to take the road test at the DMV to obtain their Driver License.
  
• Students are required to take the Alabama Vessel Exam as part of the course, even if you already have taken the test and passed. Students who pass the exam will receive their Boating Certification.
• Students will receive a Completion Certificate after completion of this course. This Certificate can be used to obtain an Auto Insurance Discount.

Prices are set by the Mobile County School Board

• Mobile County Residents-$175
  
• Out of County Residents-$300 (ex: Baldwin County, Washington County)

Registration

• Friday, May 24, 2024, at the Baker High School Concourse (located by the Gym)
• 8:00-10:00am
• Parent/Guardian must be present at registration to sign paperwork
• Alabama Permit must be presented at registration
• Payment is due at registration
• First come, first served; Spots are limited
• Classroom instruction will be online using Google Classroom beginning May 28, 2024.
• Students will need to join Google Classroom with a personal email. Students will also need to join our class on the Remind app. Codes will be provided at registration.
• Each student will be scheduled to drive 3 times during the month of June. Driving dates and times vary depending on the instructor. Students will sign up for specific driving dates and times at registration.
